  1. Hello,
My name is Veda Maynard and I am a resident of the City of Wilmington. I am not sure if your agency is the one I should be contacting, but, the city has given me the runaround with this. My concern is the large open hole that was dug during construction on the I-95 Concord Ave. exit going south . The hole was never filled in and now it’s stays full of water. With concerns about the mosquito that spreads the Zika virus coming this way, I am concerned that this area will be a breeding ground for those mosquitoes. Can’t we do something before this happens and Wilmington gets yet another negative mark against it . Also, we could be adding to an impending epidemic.

  2. Hi Veda,

DISC unfortunately does not have much clout when it comes to something like this. I would, however, get in touch with the State of Delaware’s Mosquito Control Section, http://www.dnrec.delaware.gov/fw/mosquito/Pages/default.aspx

If they aren’t able to help, they might be able to point you in the right direction. Definitely let us know what happens; Delaware doesn’t need anymore places to harbor mosquitoes!

    Sincerely,

    Linda Bailey
